| Peek a boo Pattern Shop | Jack n Jill Shortalls | Pattern Pieces | One of instructions for assembling the lining to the romper was wrong. I decided to do it as the pattern instructed, and it was indeed, wrong. I did it the way I knew to be right on subsequent rompers. | Pictures were good. | I measured my oldest boy and he should have been a 3t by the provided chest measurements. The 3t was to small, he couldn't move freely. I will have to size up for it to fit properly. | I emailed Amy, to make sure that I hadn't misunderstood, and to explain how I had successfully executed my next attempt. I never received a response. | I will use the pattern for personal use, but would not recommend it or any other peek a boo patterns because of the unclear directions and the lack of customer service. | 3t & 12mths | Y | Intermediate | No | The pattern didn't print to the edge of the paper like she intended, so I had to hand draw in the lines to the edge. I asked in her group and she said it was my printer. I double checked my settings, and had never encountered that problem with other designers. |
| Peek a boo Pattern Shop | Hang out Hoodie | Pattern Pieces | I had trouble understanding the instructions for the placket assembly around the neck. The garment in the picture didn't appear to be constructed the same way the instructions said to construct it. I made it work, but had to do some modifications when using the pattern after the first time. | The pictures weren't blurry, but they didn't coincide well with the instructions. | The fit was good, except the neck line/hood was a little loose on my size 10 for my 8 yr old. | I emailed and tagged/asked Amy for help in the pdf group. I didn't get a response from her either way. | I do still use the pattern, after noting my own adjustments, but I don't recommend this pattern designer due to my overall experience with the two patterns I have purchased from her. | 5t & 10 | Yes | |||
| Peek A Boo Pattern Shop | Bubble Shorts | Both | Instructions were great. I was able to follow along just fine. | Picture quality was perfect. | The fit was spot on. | I received my pattern instantly. I didn't need additional assistance. | Yes, definitely will make the pattern again, and I've already recommended it to my lil sis, who's just learning to sew. | 2T | No | Intermediate | No | The pattern went together perfectly. I would have liked to see a pocket placement guide rather than having to eyeball it but that's just me. I'm too much of a perfectionist and start sweating when sewing the second pocket. |
| Peek A Boo | Lil Adventurer Backpack Pattern | Both | No, the instructions seemed all over. Measurements for certain parts were missing and I had to improvise. The directions mention a snap closure, but it doesn't match the listing image snaps at all. That part was the most incomplete of any steps would be the straps for it, to me the most important part. If I hadn't sewn before I would not have known what to do for much of this bag. It would mention placing things ad a distance but not say how far apart exactly, or mention for you to look at another step for more information but it felt unorganized. | Pictures were ok. Some pictures were drawn on to show where things needed to be, while others weren't. The scale of them was an issue on some and I had to try to bring the photo into my computer to zoom in on it. | Missing measurements for interfacing, and could use measurements for the different strap lengths mentioned. | I got the pattern as a digital download through Etsy, so as soon as payment was verified automatically I was able to download the pattern. | Unless the instructions are completely rewritten I wouldn't recommend this one to anyone. It seemed more line an unorganized blog post freebie than a pattern anyone would pay for. | One Size | Yes | Intermediate | No | No inch square test, but if you print with no scaling it is fine. Could have just been 2 pages to print the pattern and not 3, but that wasn't a real issue. |
| Peek a boo Patterns | Classic Ringer Tee | Both | Excellent step by step instructions. | High quality color photos that match directions. | Excellent fit. | Got my pattern almost immediately. | It is a great pattern with a wide variety of sizes. It also includes pieces for both long and short sleeved shirts, and appliques. | 6 | Yes | Intermediate | No | Pattern pieces matched up well and were professional. |
| Peekaboo | Hangout Hoodie | Both | The instructions were fine, but fall short at this most difficult step (sewing on the from of the collar where it overlaps). The pictures do not help much, and the explanation still makes it a little confusing. If I had not just made a similar pattern (Jalie 2911), I probably would have totally ruined the dress. I think if she had given exact measurements for the collar binding (instead of having you cut a piece too big and having to trim it), and had you start sewing it on from the bottom it would be sooo much better. This is how the jalie pattern does it and I didn't have to wrangle the fabric so much. I almost ripped my cotton jersey trying to manipulate the pieces in place. I probably won't make this pattern again. If i want to make a dress, I'll just extend the jalie pattern into a dress instead. | Color pictures, ok quality. | The fit is ok. I found the dress to be a little long on my daughter, but that is easily fixed. | i received it promptly. | I would not make the pattern again. | 2t | Yes | Advanced Beginner | No | As with all peekaboo patterns I've tried, the lines don't match up exactly but it's close enough to make it work. |
| Peekaboo | Adelaide Romper | Pattern Pieces | The instructions were ok. I didn't have any major issues understanding the steps, except for the snap crotch instructions. Those could have been clearer in my opinion. | Color, ok quality. | I contacted the designer to ask about fit for cloth diapers. She suggested sizing up. I measured my niece and went up to the next size. It barely fit her, and the crotch will NOT stay snapped no matter what I do. I made what I called a "crotch extender" to try to keep it closed and it still doesn't work. I have read that others have the same problem, so maybe it's a design issue? It is my first time making a snapped crotch so I'm not sure. | I received it promptly, and the designer answered my questions quickly. | I wanted to love this pattern, but the fact that it's barely wearable with the whole snapped crotch thing is very disappointing. I put a lot of work into it, and I'm not sure my niece will ever wear it as-is. | 18mo | Yes | Advanced Beginner | Yes | I always have problems having peekaboo patterns matching up exactly, and this happened here too. Since there are small pieces in this pattern, it was hard to trace off the correct size because the lines are SO close together (like for the small collar detail pieces). That said, I do appreciate the broad size range. I just think she could space out the sizes more (like spread out the collar pieces into 2 separate pattern pieces, skipping sizes on each one). |
| Peekaboo | Rosalie Tee | Both | I had a lot of issues with this pattern, even though it's pretty simple. I feel like the instructions were incomplete at certain steps. For example, when sewing the sides, are you supposed to catch the ruffles within the seam, or leave them out? Or, you're told to "baste" the ruffles on, but then never told to go back and sew them on more securely? I sewed them twice anyway because I could picture my 2 year old pulling on them and ripping them off. | The pictures were ok overall. | I also had major fit issues. Specifically, I could NOT get this over my daughters head! My daughter is lower than 30th percentile for all her measurements, so I imagine she cannot be the only child this does not work for. I even trimmed back the neck opening and made a larger neckband (which I tested on her before sewing it on), and I still couldn't get it over her head. I used a cotton jersey (no spandex), but that was on the recommended fabric list. Even if I used something stretchier, I think it would still be a tight fit without trimming the neck opening. I ended up tossing the project because I was so frustrated with all the issues I had with this pattern. | I did ask the designer a question, but her response (although quick to reply), was not helpful. | I would not make this again. I felt like the pattern was just thrown together, and seemed like it could have been done better. It seemed incomplete. I really wanted to like it because it's so cute, but I was disappointed in all the little frustrations I had with it. | 2t | Yes | Advanced Beginner | No | They lined up ok. Color coded sizes. |
| Peekaboo | Alex and Anna Winter PJs | Both | Easy to understand, no problems | Color pictures, good quality. | These fit ok. I think the neck holes could be a little bigger though. I feel like I have to yank it over my daughters head a little. | I received them quickly. | Good basic PJ pattern. I use this mostly to use up scraps. | 12mo, 18mo, 2t, 4t | Yes | Advanced Beginner | No | Color coded sizes. The lines were a little off, but I could make it work. This has been true of all peekaboo patterns I have tried. |
